About Jon Merrill

Jon Merrill is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who most recently played for the Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League (NHL). As of March 2026, he is currently an unrestricted free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Wild at the end of the 2024–25 season.
Merrill was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 2nd round (38th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Merrill was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan and Brighton, Michigan.[
